How to Run Adobe Flash Player?
Adobe® Flash® Player is a lightweight browser plug-in and rich Internet application runtime that delivers consistent and engaging user experiences, stunning audio/video playback, and exciting gameplay.
Installed on more than 1.3 billion systems, Flash Player is the standard for delivering high-impact, rich Web content.
SWF stands for Small Web Format which is an Adobe Flash File Format used for multimedia, vector graphics like interactive animations and games. It is derived from Shockwave Flash. SWF files can only be played in a flash compatible web browser. A SWF file has a .swf extension. Flash games are very popular as they can be directly played in the web browser. But android doesn't have a direct support to play swf files. But in this tutorial I am going to teach you how you can do this.
On Web browser
- Check if Flash Player is installed on your computer
- Download the latest version of Flash Player
If you don't have the latest version, download it here: Adobe Flash Player download - Install Flash Player
After you download Flash Player, follow the installation instructions that appear on the download page. - Enable Flash Player in your browser
- Verify whether Flash Player is installed
On Android Device
- What's your Android version? I'll assume you're using 4.1 or newer.
- The .swf extension is used by files played by Adobe Flash Player. Unfortunately, Flash is not supported on Android since 4.1.
- You can try installing the Flash Player APK. The latest version is for 4.0/ICS, but some people say it works on 4.1+/JB as well.
- Additionally, Chrome for Android never supported Flash - even with the APK installed.
- So you'll need to use a different browser: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser
On iOS (iPhone or iPad)
If you want to view Flash-based websites, play Flash games or watch Flash videos on your iPad, you'll come across a bit of a problem: the iPad doesn't support Flash. However, that doesn't mean you can't get Flash on your iPad at all. There are various apps available to download from the iOS App Store for iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini 2 that will help. Some of these apps are also available for iPhone, so you can play Flash games or videos on your iPhone, too.
Popular browser apps that will enable you to play Flash videos and games on your iPad include Photon Browser, Puffin, Skyfire Browser and iSwifter Browser.
- Photon Flash Player for iPad - Flash Video & Games plus Private Web Browser
- Puffin Browser Free - Fast & Flash
- Skyfire is ideal for watching Flash videos, but does not support Flash apps, games or website animations, so doesn't provide an all-round Flash solution.
- iSwifter is designed for Flash games, and is free for 10 minutes per day for seven days. After that, you'll have to cough up £5.49 for the privilege. You'll need to be connected to WiFi to use iSwifter, as it doesn't work with 3G or 4G connections.
Why doesn't the iPhone/iPad support Flash?
- Apple's late co-founder Steve Jobs famously bashed Flash for mobile, and refused to allow the technology on the iOS platform. Instead, Jobs fought for the alternative HTML5 standard, which is beginning to replace Flash around the web.
- In August 2012, Adobe disabled new installs of Flash via the Google Play Store, marking the end of Adobe Flash on Android devices too.
